News Service 2000 A Ministry to Persecuted Christians
Urgent:

The Palestinian Bible Society is receiving threats demanding they vacate the bookshop in Gaza. The ministry was put on hold in October of 2007, with the murder of Rami Ayyad, the bookshops manager. The Bible Society is asking prayer for:

  • Protection over the remaining staff members and the bookshop building.
  • God to grant them wisdom to handle this situation correctly.
  • God to give them favor in the likely event of a court case.
  • God’s will to take place in Gaza and for mercy over the suffering people
    Current:
    1. Pray for two college age sisters that were Muslim and have converted to Christianity as they are in hiding from their family for fear of severe reprisals. Pray for their protection and to know the Lord's wisdom in this difficult situation. Also pray for 2 younger sisters still living at home who are secret believers.

    2. Pray for the Rami Ayyad's family as they commerate the 1st year anniversary of his martyrdom.

    3. Pray for Tonya an Egyption woman in prison awaiting trial because she led her father to Chritianity. Her father is also in prison for leaving Islam.

    4. Pray for Allen (not his real name) a convert from Islam to Christianity who earlier this year suffered a beating and nearly being beheaded, at the hands of radical Muslims. His grocery store was burned by radical Muslim students and he has lost everything. Pray for safety and continued perserverance for him and his family.

    On-Going:
    1. Pray for Christians who reside in Sudan and all of Africa , that they will feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Pray for their protection, strength and boldness.

    2. Pray for the protection of Christian children in Muslim schools. Pray for strength and wisdom in times of persecution.

    3. Pray for the Christians in Iraq that they will feel God’s peace in their lives. Pray for the new government as it struggles to organize.

    4. Pray for the continued work of the Internet Evangelism Project.

    5. Pray for peace in the Middle East and for the Christians caught in the turmoil.

    7. Pray for the Christians in Turkey, India and Indonesia as they face strong oppostion for their faith.

    8. Pray for Mr. Hegazi his wife and young child as they are in still in hiding in Egypt and fear for their lives. He was not given permsission from the Egyptian court to change his religion on his ID card. ID cards are utmost importance to living in Egypt. Without it you can't work or go to school or anything else that requires legal identification. Mr. Hagazi can believe in his heart what he wants but it is against Sharia law to convert away from Islam, and wouldn't allow him change his ID.

    PRAYER,
    HOW IMPORTANT IS IT?

As we meet with Christians who are persecuted, the first thing they ask for is prayer.

In the 26 years that we have met with them, not once have they asked for prayer that the persecution end. Instead, they ask for prayer that they will remain faithful.

They know that they will pay a price for not denying Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 3:12 says “All who desire to live a Godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”

They are standing in the gap for us, bringing Christ to the nations when we cannot. Let us stand with them in prayer
    .
